While area high schools celebrated Award Night and graduation differently due to COVID-19, the Greene County 4-H Foundation continued its annual tradition of naming its $1,000 scholarship awardees.
Congratulations to Tieryn Tucker and Cole Betts, both recent graduates of Greene County High School, for being named the county’s 2020 4-H scholarship recipients.
Tucker, the daughter of Tim Tucker of Jefferson and Tara and Andy Quirk of Grand Junction, will attend Iowa Central Community College to pursue a degree in agricultural education. Betts, son of Alan and Tanya Betts of Jefferson, will attend Iowa State University to pursue a degree in ag business and agronomy.
The scholarship, funded primarily by proceeds from the Clover Café at each Greene County Fair, is awarded to the high school 4-H member who exhibits leadership, citizenship and communication skills.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions for concessions, this year’s Clover Cafe will be done “virtually.” More information will be released soon on this unique Fair Week experience.
